Welcome down to ancient Källarkrogen!

The restaurant was started in the sixties by the actor Lennart Lund who gave the restaurant the name Kopparmärra or as the citizens of Gothenburg called it, "Öltunnan" ("The Beer Barrel").
In 1977 the restaurant was taken over by the Sjöbring familly with the famous Gothenburg innkeeper Christer Sjöbring leading the way. It was then the restaurnt got it's name  Källarkrogen. But already in the 18th century the vaults of our cellar has been to the delight of the food, when the delicatessen shop owner C.R Angerman run his business in the house. Until the late thirties the vaults was used for preparation of smoked meat that was sold in the delicatessen shop at street level.
In 1935 the Weibull's seed company moved into the house and they used parts of the vaults for storage of seeds. We should also mention that the Halländska Thebrödsbageriet (bakery) that made their first bread in 1880.
The last oven was closed in 1968, by the baker Lennart Yngfors, who by then had had the restaurant since 1939.
Since 1994 the restaurant is owned by Pia Reitz and Cecilia De Caro who together with their personel welcomes you to their tables.
